Live and study german in the home of the teacher

German homestay in northern Bavaria/Franconia

The teacher

My name is Heike and I was born in 1973 in northern germany. I've studied German and French as well as German as a Foreign Language in Halle an der Saale. Somewhat longer stays abroad have led me to France and later on also to Finland. After my studies I worked as a university lecturer, in scientific projects and as a curator in a museum. I'm teaching German in Bamberg and the Haßberge since 2005, I really enjoy this. Besides the language I like to introduce people to the german culture in the widest sense. This of course includes literature but also history, applied geography, food and drinking etc.
I know how it feels and what is necessary to learn a foreign language since I learned several myself.
In my spare time enjoy reading, going to the movies, working in our garden, traveling and exploring the surroundings.

The family

My husband Clemens was born in 1979 in Halle. He graduated in Mechatronics and currently works as a software developer in Erlangen. During his studies he lived and worked several months in the Netherlands and Czech Republic. He also learned several foreign languages as English, Russian, Dutch and Czech. Clemens is fond of biking, traveling, cooking and baking, supports Heike in the garden and repairs and drives his classic motorcycles.
Our daughter Theda was born 2007 in Haßfurt. She is a jolly, open child that loves to spent the day outside in nature, splashing in a bath tub. She also enjoys skimming through her (and our) books.

The housing

We live in an old franconian half-timbered house with a large garden. This former farmhouse dating back from around 1723 has been renovated lovingly. The house a kitchen/livingroom, nursery, bedroom, toilet and bathroom with shower and bath tub. The guest will have the study room on her/his own. WiFi internet access is available in all rooms including most of the garden.
During the winter time the warmth from the stoves fills the house. In the summer time two terraces and the garden can be used for relaxation. The rural tranquility, sometimes only interrupted by the church bells, helps to learn and recreate.

The surroundings

Our house is located in Köslau, a small village in the franconian natural park Haßberge. It is an old village that could retain its original rural character and structure. Numerous hiking paths lead through the soft, hilly countryside. Only 2 km away the well-reputated and award-winning restaurant and beer garden "Gutshof Andres" offers local franconian as well as international cuisine.
Köslau is situated in the triangle of Bamberg, Coburg and Schweinfurt. All three cities can be reached within 30 minutes by car or train. The lovely and quaint wine and beer-town Zeil am Main is 7 km away. It offeres several small wine taverns (some even in the wineyards), a brewery and also a cinema. Königsberg (10 km away) is picturesque and old franconian town with beautiful half-timbered houses and a castle. Several adjacent towns have in- and outdoor swimming pools, Haßfurt also has an ice rink.
The next train stations are Ebelsbach-Eltmann, Zeil am Main and Haßfurt. Our car may be used for individual or collective excursions. All activities and the Co-Teaching of the Treffpunkt language school are open to the guest, too, of course. The guest should have a driving license allowing him to organise his day independently.

The tuition

For an exemplary schedule and the price list please visit the homepage of Sprachschule Treffpunkt. Besides the lessons the guest will be part of the family life. We will try to organise several excursions as well as coffee klatsch or dinner at friends' houses.
